Contact lens firm Coopervision has decided to take its One Bright Vision charity programme to India.
This year’s campaign focused on screening the vision of children for eye disorders in socio-economically disadvantaged communities in and around the southern Indian district of Chennai.
Coopervision has committed to funding 30,000 eye health screenings, working with a team of optometrists from the India Vision Institute to complete the project.
The programme, a partnership with Optometry Giving Sight, follows on from last year’s project in Tanzania. Since 2013, Coopervision has provided funding for 100,000 eye health screenings overseen training for 800 teachers in over 400 schools to establish annual training, a statement said.
