More than 40 redundancies have been made at Coopervision’s Fareham contact lens manufacturing plant in Hampshire.
The company said that there had been duplication of roles following the takeover of Sauflon in 2014. A streamlining process of production facilities had been carried out and 130 staff will now move to Hamble, Southampton and additional manufacturing will take place in Budapest.
A report in the Portsmouth News said 43 staff took redundancy, 39 voluntarily.
The company said there would no impact on the service provided to its customers.
