CooperVision worker Simon McCarthy has committed to running five marathons in three months for charity.
McCarthy, a senior production engineer at the company, will be taking on the challenge in support of Optometry Giving Sight.
He plans to complete the first in Wolverhampton before moving on to Bournemouth, the Stratford-Upon-Avon Double and the Portsmouth coastal marathon.
McCarthy started to take an interest in his health and fitness two years ago after a warning from his GP.
He said: ‘I cannot comprehend that many people around the globe are unable to see simply because they lack access to minimal resources and basic support. I feel proud to be in a position to help towards this incredible cause.’
