
CooperVision has repurposed part of its production facilities in Hampshire to produce bottles of hand sanitiser for its own requirements.
The contact lens company’s manufacturing and packaging facility for its Biofinity and MyDay brands has been redesigned with machinery repurposed and new operating procedures introduced.
In three weeks, the company has produced bottles of hand sanitiser that meets UK government guidelines and the World Health Organization’s formulation.
Steve Mathieson, senior vice president of European manufacturing at CooperVision, said: ‘As a manufacturing organisation with an innovative in-house design team, we were keen to take on this challenge and contribute to supporting not only our own requirements for hand sanitiser, but also see if we could support the community in some way.’
