CooperVision: Range gets astigmatism boost

New toric CL added to CooperVision's monthly silicone hydrogel lenses

CooperVision has added a new toric contact lens to its Biofinity range of monthly silicone hydrogel lenses.

XR toric provides another option for patients with astigmatism and high prescriptions. It is available to purchase in sphere powers from -6.00D to -10.00D (0.50D steps), -6.00D to +6.00D (0.25D steps), with cylinder powers from -2.75 to -5.75 (0.50 steps) and an axis of 5º to 180º in 5º steps, and +8.50D to +10.00D with cylinder powers from -0.75 to -2.25 (0.50 steps).

The new lens incorporates a similar uniform horizontal ISO thickness and optimised ballast band as Biofinity toric, which the company said made it an easy-to-fit, stable toric lens with excellent visual acuity. A continuous surface also ensured that the eyelid interacted with a smooth lens surface on every blink, resulting in a more comfortable wearing experience.
