Contact lens manufacturer CooperVision rolls out silicone lens product

Contact lens manufacturer CooperVision has announced the rollout of its Avaira Vitality monthly silicone lens product.

The enhanced lens costs the same as the original Avaira model. Developments made to the lens include a higher water content in the lens and the addition of a class 1 UV filter. According to statistics supplied by CooperVision the filter blocks 90% of UVA and 99% of UVB light. It also said: ‘When surveyed patients rated Avaira Vitality as the strongly preferred choice versus Avaira by 15:1. Ninety-four per cent of those asked also said they would be likely to switch from Avaira to Avaira Vitality.’

Just as in the original product, the upgrade can be purchased in powers from +8.00 to -12.00 (0.50 steps after +/- 6.00). Mark Draper, head of professional services at CooperVision said: ‘Available at the same price as our existing Avaira lenses, and with the same fitting characteristics, upgrading your patients couldn’t be simpler.’
