Couple launch guide

Optometrist Pamela Girling and her professional behaviour training husband Nick have written a guide to patient and practice team management called Buy My Specs.

The guide is designed to help practitioners tackle the increasingly competitive optical retail market in order to succeed commercially as well as clinically. It provides an 'understated common sense approach' to dealing with colleagues and the public 'for the qualitative and financial well-being of your practice'.

Pamela said: 'It is a fact that optometry is a people-facing business and also a highly commercial and competitive one. It is no longer enough to be a good ophthalmic or dispensing optician, you have to be a good sales person as well.'
