The College of Optometrists recently presented its new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme to education and training providers.
The London event was used to introduce CPD Online, which will be officially launched on November 23. It is hoped that CPD Online will make it easy for optometrists to plan, access and record evidence of completing education and training, helping them to develop beyond the minimum continuing education and training requirement to maintain entry level status as is currently required.
The move towards specialisms within the optical profession is certain to make CPD a more significant part of future registration and may well encompass CET altogether.
