Heritage optical firm C.W. Dixey & Son has launched five new frames to its Winston Churchill-inspired Chartwell collection.

The new styles in the collection, which now comprises 18 models, have more of a feminine appeal and correct the gender balance of the range, says company managing director Simon Palmer.

Named after Churchill’s home in Kent, the Chartwell collection is designed in the UK, and manufactured in France. The designers studied a number of Churchill’s frames before creating a faithful replica with a contemporary edge. A simple two white spot motif is marked on the temple tips: just as Churchill personally requested in September 1944.
