CW Dixey & Son has added eight new styles to its Chartwell eyewear collection, which for the first time now includes two sunglass styles.

The British heritage brand, famous for adorning the face of Winston Churchill, launched its first eight-strong collection in 2011 (Optician 16.09.11) and the company’s director Simon Palmer said the new models, designed once again by Scottish eyewear designer Andy Sweet, were very much a development of shapes in the original collection.

Ophthalmic style 09 (1) has been designed as a larger version of the popular 04 model, while the 14 frame (2) is a larger and slightly more feminine take on the 07 frame. Palmer said that while 70 per cent of wearers were male, some of the new styles had been designed with women in mind, covering niches that were left out in the first collection.
