Dollond & Aitchison has relaunched its appeal for unwanted spectacles to support the Help the Aged World in Sight Project.
The high street multiple is collecting the spectacles from D&A branches across the country to be recycled and sent to people in developing countries.
So far the latest initiative has 10,000 donations to help people to earn a living who cannot see well enough to carry out day-to-day tasks.
Last year more than 80,000 pairs of spectacles were matched to requested specifications and dispatched to ophthalmic projects in a range of developing countries. Since 1991 spectacles have been donated to countries around the world including Brazil, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
