Dollond & Aitchison's home delivery Contact Lenses by Post scheme has attracted 100,000 patients nationally in its first year.
Russell Hardy, D&A chief executive said the programme had worked successfully because it combined convenience with clinical care. The offer, which is based on a barcode system to ensure lenses are only issued to patients who keep up with required annual checks, has been available from all D&A's branches since December last year. Prior to that date the service was tested in Scotland for a period of 18 months.
