Mr Taylor, who was influential in Vision Express' 'optical lab' new-look sites, will now be responsible for the overall direction of D&A's core marketing activities and product development. Mr Taylor began his optical career 30 years ago as a dispensing optician, before progressing to director level with various optical retail and healthcare organisations including George Davis Opticians and InterCare. In the early 1990s Mr Taylor was product and marketing director at D&A. Mr Taylor said there had been 'many exciting changes' at D&A since his previous time with the company, and commented there is now 'a fantastic opportunity' for the group in this country. Russell Hardy, chief executive of D&A, said: 'Des's appointment coincides with an exciting, progressive time at D&A and I am sure his breadth of experience will have a big impact on the company, strengthening its commercial operations.'
