D&A takes acclaim for the wit to woo patients

Multiple retailer Dollond & Aitchison has received a centenary trade mark award for its famous Owl logo.
Head of the trade marks and design registry at the Patent Office Peter Lawrence presented the award to chief executive Dollond & Aitchison chief executive Russell Hardy at a ceremony at the companyÕs head office in Birmingham on Tuesday.
Mr Lawrence said: ÔA companyÕs trade marks protect their brands, reputation and business. To own a trade mark that has lasted for 100 years only illustrates the strength of your business in its sector and its high recognition among its target audiences.
ÔNo company reaches this kind of record unless they have shown they meet an enduring customer need,Õ Mr Lawrence commented.
Mr Hardy said he was ÔdelightedÕ with the companyÕs achievement.
ÔWe are proud to have been looking after the UKÕs eyes for so much longer than anyone else.Õ
