Dollond & Aitchison is entering into a partnership agreement on July 1 with laser refractive surgery provider Ultralase to offer more choice to its customers seeking professional eye care advice.
D&A optometrists will now be able to provide information to customers seeking advice on refractive surgery. Where the patient is interested in pursuing treatment, D&A will recommend they consult their nearest Ultralase refractive clinic for a professional assessment, returning to D&A if they go ahead with treatment for continuity in their ongoing postoperative clinical care. D&A optometrists will be provided with thorough aftercare training by Ultralase.
D&A said its decision to enter the agreement followed significant advances in technology and procedure, supported by new guidance from the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence. In the light of the NICE acknowledgement that laser refractive surgery is 'safe and efficacious', D&A had reviewed its policy on the treatment and recognised its place as an option for customers considering visual correction solutions.
