The second national low vision conference will be held in October in central London.
Organised by the RNIB, the first conference was held in Birmingham last year.
Aimed at developing more comprehensive models of practice in low vision and increasing the number of low vision services available to patients, topics in this yearÕs conference include Ôassessing people with learning disabilitiesÕ, Ôlow vision and drivingÕ and Ôgetting contracts and developing servicesÕ.
Louise Culham, principal optometrist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, will give an historical perspective and review prospects for low vision services in 2002. Pam Marsh from the DoH will discuss how Ôcommittees can affect changeÕ.
The low vision services committee of the Forest of Dean will also present a lecture on rural groups and how to match local needs with primary care trust priorities.
The conference will take place on October 28 at the NCVO, RegentÕs Wharf, N1.
