Davis leads the way in Wales

Sali Davis appointed chief operating officer of Optometry Wales.

SaliSali Davis has been appointed chief operating officer of Optometry Wales (OW).

The appointment was made jointly by OW and the LOC Support Unit (LOCSU). The newly created position comes with a remit to raise the profile of OW and optics in Wales.

Davis will also be responsible for liaising and negotiating with government departments and assisting regional optical committees with local consultations and schemes.

Her past experience includes working with healthcare professionals while working for the Royal College of General Practitioners as their development officer during which time she managed several successful projects across Wales.

OW's chairman, Helen Tilley, said: 'OW has, since its inception, been working very hard to raise the profile of optometry and optics in Wales and now we are the victims of our own success, and the workload is now too onerous for willing volunteers. Sali's appointment will ensure that this work will continue and develop for the benefit of all optometrists and dispensing opticians in Wales.'
