Deafblind UK has announced its second free annual convention held on October 6, with a focus on ‘embracing change’.
Hosted virtually, the keynote speaker, disability advocate Catarina Rivera, will address three myths that block leaders from focusing on disability, and envision a future of work that centres on disability inclusion.
It is expected to have more than 700 attendees and feature Deafblind UK’s ‘Stepping Forwards’ commendations, a talk on accessibility by BBC’s research and development team, as well as speakers such as deafblind specialists Dr Peter Simcock and Dr Athur Theil from Birmingham City University.
Deafblind UK CEO Steve Conway commented: ‘Being deafblind means living with constant change; it’s an ever-evolving cycle that has no end point. From experiencing first symptoms to adapting to a global pandemic, sight and hearing loss changes lives. This event will explore how deafblindness forces change and how a changing world impacts deafblindness.'
