Decathlete's endorsement

Double Olympic gold medallist, world and Commonwealth champion Daley Thompson unveiled a new Optical Express practice in Bearsden, Glasgow, by jumping over a raised red ribbon outside the store.

The practice has relocated after nine years in the town to a larger site offering improved facilities, state of the art technology and a wide selection of spectacles including the brands Jimmy Choo, Dior, Prada, Gucci and Tom Ford.

Thompson said: 'Optical Express' latest venture is a superb facility which will ensure it continues to offer the very best advice, care and treatment for its clients. As an athlete I am very aware of the importance of looking after your eyes with regular eye checks. While in Glasgow, which will host the Commonwealth Games in 2014, I also took the opportunity to speak to locals about the importance and need to encourage youngsters to become more active to ensure success at the Games in four years' time.'
