A long-awaited announcement on GOS sight test fees will be made in the coming days, the delay being caused by a 'technical' hitch relating to the backdating of fees, the Department of Health (DoH) told Optician this week.
Responding to questioning by Optician on the delay in the announcement, which is usually made in November each year, a DoH spokesperson, confirmed that negotiations with the optical bodies had been concluded but that an issue had arisen over the processing of the backdated claims.
Under the current rules, practitioners are entitled to take into account any increases in fees for claims dating back to April 2008.
