DED drives global eye drop market

Dry eye disease (DED) has been identified as a main driver for growth of the global eye drops market, which was projected to reach $7.3bn by 2034. 

The Eye Drops (Artificial Tear) market goods were valued at approximately $4.2bn in 2024, with an estimated Compound Annual Growth Rate of 6.5% for 2025-20234, according to a market analysis report by Exactitude Consultancy. 

Treatments for DED make up 50% of total eye drops sales, including preservative-free eye drops and preserved eye drops, while relief for contact lens wearers constitute approximately 30% of the market, and allergies and eye fatigue make up the remaining 20%. For DED, the report said: 'Increased screen time and environmental factors are driving a surge in demand for products tailored to this condition.'
