Deodorant bomb craze blinds boy

A son permanently blind in one eye after a deodorant can exploded

A mother has warned other parents about a social media craze that left her son permanently blind in one eye after a deodorant can exploded.

The ‘deodorant bomb’ craze involved bursting a deodorant can with a sharp object and hitting it to release the gas and watch it spin.

Jennifer Keppie, the child’s mother, posted on social media: ‘As kids, we have all done things that were risky and dangerous without a second thought at the consequences if anything went wrong. Unfortunately for us, it went wrong. Jay and his friend were giving this a go and a deodorant can exploded.’

She added that four ophthalmologists were consulted but could not save the vision in her son’s eye.
