Designers join the party

D&G designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were on hand to help Italian frame manufacturer Marcolin celebrate the launch of its diffusion line. Combined Optical Industries has announced the appointment of a new sales and marketing director, Dennis Camilleria. Mr Camilleria is a qualified physicist and optical engineer and has a background in management, sales and marketing. He joins the company from Willett International where he was group new business manager. Nigel Danson has been appointed head of research and development at Siltint. Dr Danson joins the company from Pilkington Space Technology where he was project manager responsible for new business coating development. Dave Carroll has been given the post of northern European sales manager for ophthalmic instrument manufacturer Keeler. Mr Carroll joined Keeler in 1985 and spent three years in research and development before moving into sales. In 1992 he was appointed European territory manager. Signet Armorlite Europe has appointed Gorden Bethwaite as Kodak lens consultant for the north of England. Among his responsibilities, Mr Bethwaite will be working with practitioners on marketing plans and staff training. Southern Counties Optical Services (Invision) has strengthened its sales and marketing team with three new members: John King, who has been appointed sales executive, has 11 years optical experience and comes from Hoya UK; and David Nicholas and Jenny Fielding have been appointed sales and marketing executives.
