DfT accused of burying report

The Department for Transport (DfT) has been accused of 'burying' a report that called for the introduction of regular vision tests for all drivers.

The University of Warwick study, commissioned by the DfT and released a year ago, found that many healthcare professionals were failing to advise people with medical conditions that could affect their driving whether they were fit to drive (News 22.01.10).

A report on the DfT website called for a range of measures including better training for health workers, regular eye tests for all drivers and raising the current visual standards to bring the UK in line with other European countries.
