Staffordshire-based dispensing optician Victoria Tyers has been erased from the GOC register.
A GOC fitness to practise committee found her fitness to practise impaired by virtue of a conviction for stealing cash to the value of £3,967 from her employer, Specsavers in Uttoxeter.
Committee chaired Margaret Hallendorff said: ‘The committee considered that the criminal conviction related to a serious offence of dishonesty. Over a prolonged period the registrant committed a number of acts of theft of cash, totalling almost four thousand pounds, from her employer whilst in a position of trust as store manager.'
The Committee concluded it was in the public interest for an order of erasure to be made, and Tyers is now unable to practise in the UK as a dispensing optician.
She has 28 days to appeal the erasure, during which time she is suspended from the register under an immediate order, the GOC added.
