Dispensing optician Vishnu Parasram has appealed a proposed General Optical Council erasure sanction after a fitness to practise committee heard that he misappropriated over £8,000 from his employer, Specsavers in Tooting.
Parasram, also the branch manager, was responsible for the day-to-day running of practice and cashing-up and banking takings. The committee said that between November 1 and April 23 2013, there were a number of occasions when he was solely responsible for the banking. Between those dates, it was alleged that he failed to bank monies received by the store.
