DO is poles apart from the field

Dispensing optician Daryl Newsome (above left) is pictured being presented with a special training award by explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Mr Newsome, who manages the Co-Op Eye Care practice in Ivybridge, Devon, received his award at a regional presentation of the National Training Awards in Bristol. He was nominated on gaining his contact lens diploma, for which he was awarded the Terry Doyle Memorial Prize for top marks in an honours examination by the Association of British Dispensing Opticians.
