Dispensing optician and Olympian Tracey Morris celebrated London winning the bid for the 2012 Games at a special event at the English Institute of Sport.
The athlete, who competed in last year's Athens Olympics, watched one of the most keenly-fought bidding contests in recent years with schoolchildren and sports competitors on a giant screen at the Sheffield-based Institute, which will help prepare British competitors for the 2012.
Morris (pictured) works for Dollond & Aitchison in Leeds. She shot to fame after the London Marathon in 2004 when she was the first British woman to finish the 26-mile race. Her time of 2 hours 33 minutes was good enough to earn her a place at the Olympic Games in Greece where she finished 29th.
