Olympic marathon runner and Dollond & Aitchison dispensing optician Tracey Morris has been visiting primary schools up and down the country to mark National Eye Week.

The Tracey Morris Stars in their Eyes tour visited a school in a different region each day to educate young people about the importance of eye care. Morris shared top tips by giving talks in assemblies and classes. She also gave information on what happens in an eye examination. Her sessions were designed to educate children about eye care through fun interactive games and workshop-style learning.

'Eyes develop very quickly throughout childhood,' said Morris, stressing that unless a child's vision was cared for they would find it difficult to reach their full potential. Among her tips for keeping eyes in shape were to eat lots of fruit and vegetables, to turn the light on when reading in poor light and to wear sunglasses on bright days. She also stressed the importance of wearing glasses if you had them and not sharing medication or wearing other people's glasses.
