Conditions have been imposed for the next three years on the right to continue in practice of a student dispensing optician who 'systematically' stole £500 from his employers over 15 months.
Matthew Clemitson, who worked at Brown & Whites Opticians in Luton and Dunstable, was fined £250 and ordered to pay £500 compensation and £75 costs on pleading guilty at Bedford Magistrates Court in January.
Announcing the conditions to be imposed, following a FTP hearing, GOC panel chairman Mercy Jeyasingham said: 'Mr Clemitson's dishonesty was an obvious and serious departure from the standards to be expected of dispensing opticians, whether qualified or training.
