Ophthalmologist Sarah Janikoun will deliver the presidential address to BCLA members at a meeting at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on September 17 2008.

Her presentation, entitled ‘Visual rehabilitation – I can see clearly now’, will discuss the use of contact lenses for correcting high refractive error and irregular corneas including correction for children.

‘In comparison with more deprived parts of the world, we’re very fortunate in having contact lenses as part of our armamentarium to restore sight to people who would otherwise be seriously visually impaired,’ said Dr Janikoun. ‘We have to know our ocular anatomy and physiology, but if we are brave and well informed, we can help people to achieve much more than they imagine and support them in their struggle to see.’
