According the Daily Mail, January 27, ministers want to ban anyone aged over 75 who does not pass the tests. Under the plans, drivers will repeat the series of tests, including an IQ test, every five years if they want to stay on the road.

The newspaper claims that ministers are within weeks of publishing a consultation document outlining these proposals. As well as a requirement to take an eye test, the government's consultation paper, Medical Aspects of Fitness to Drive, includes a proposal IQ-style puzzle such as being asked to spot the odd one out from a series of shapes.
