Duchess of Edinburgh visits University of Huddersfield

Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the University of Huddersfield for a tour of the refurbished science facilities and optometry department on March 20.

Professor Bob Cryan, vice-chancellor at the university, said: ‘It was an honour to welcome The Duchess of Edinburgh to the University of Huddersfield and to show her some of the many exciting developments on campus, including the optometry department and the public-facing University Valli Opticians, a valuable collaboration which provides our students with real-life experience in a public clinic.’

HRH discussed research at the school of applied sciences and was given a demonstration of photochromic sun lenses as well as being shown an optical bench to indicate how light is refracted.
