Dunelm Optical celebrated the 40th anniversary of its longest-serving member of staff, May Turton, who began as an office clerk on September 15 1970, when she was 16 years old and only a year after the company was established. Since then, Turton has worked in various departments at Dunelm's head office in Durham and has progressed to the role of office manager. The company rewarded Turton's hard work with a gold and diamond bracelet.
Peter Beaumont, director at Dunelm Optical, commented: 'May has been a fantastically loyal employee and we're proud to say she's stayed with Dunelm for so long. Her hard work over the past 40 years has greatly contributed to the success story that is Dunelm today. We'd like to say a big thanks to May for all her efforts.'
