This week’s Echoes of the Past features a special guest in the shape of international sight development charity Vision Aid Overseas.
The charity has been going through its archives in celebration of its 30th anniversary this year. The photos it found were from its first ever trip, led by the charity’s founder, Brian Ellis.
A team off 44 individuals visited Tanzania in June 1985 – 26 Americans, 16 Britons, two Danes and one Australian. Out of the group, 27 were professional optometrists or student optometrists and the rest of the team were lay helpers.
