Peter Michael Colbear, a dispensing optician (DO) from Essex convicted in February at Basildon Crown Court of 14 counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, has been struck off the registers by the General Optical Council.
Colbear, who was also convicted of one count of having an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, was considered to have his fitness to practise impaired by a GOC fitness to practise committee by reason of his conviction.
In making its decision, the committee noted that Colbear is subject to 'an extremely limiting and far reaching' sexual offences prevention order for a period of 10 years.
