Essilor boosts revenue after 'remarkable year'

Essilor reported a 6.3 per cent rise in revenue to €3,268m in its full-year results and a record high contribution margin of 18.2 per cent at €594.4m, describing the performance as 'a remarkable year in the context of 2009'.

Essilor reported a 6.3 per cent rise in revenue to €3,268m in its full-year results and a record high contribution margin of 18.2 per cent at €594.4m, describing the performance as 'a remarkable year in the context of 2009'.

The company pointed out that, with a slowdown in the ophthalmic optical market, it was able to demonstrate the solidity of its growth model and continuing progression in the market 'by leveraging its innovative products and efficient distribution networks and by stepping up its acquisition strategy'.

The company pointed to highlights that included successful new products in Crizal anti-reflective coating, the Xperio polarising lens, personalised lenses incorporating eye code technology and the Mr Blue edger.
