Essilor is beginning to roll out its new Varilux Ipseo technology to its Gold Varilux Specialist opticians.
The announcement was made last week at a reception at the Tate Modern art gallery in London where Varilux is currently sponsoring an exhibition entitled Times Zones.
Varilux Ipseo is the latest generation of progressive lens from Essilor that is individually manufactured for each patient.
The Ipseo lens (Features, October 15) uses a dispensing tool called the Vision print System, to determine how the wearer views. This is leased from Essilor for £20 a month and was made available to those practitioner at the meeting.
Introducing the lens Essilor UK managing director Michel Crombe said that adding physiological data to a lens prescription had always been desirable. New lens manufacturing technology made it possible, bringing benefits for patients, he added.
