Essilor International saw sales increase by 4 per cent in the third quarter compared to the same quarter last year - buoyed by acquired business operations.

Revenue reached €1.2bn in Q3, and stood at €3.8bn for the first nine months of the financial year, a 5.8 per cent rise on the prior year period. Essilor said growth had been firm in Europe, with the exception of Italy, Portugal and its instruments division. Its Varilux S lens, due for the UK next year (News 21.09.12), had been especially successful in France and Switzerland.

Acquisitions contributed a 7.1 per cent rise to revenues during the third quarter, Essilor reported. This comprised a 2.5 per cent gain from bolt-on acquisitions and a 2 per cent increase from the consolidation of Stylemark for the third quarter ended September 30.
