'Exciting move' for optometry

The European Academy of Optometry and Optics will be launched in Lausanne in May next year with the aim of promoting education and research into the science and practice of optometry and optics.

The European Academy of Optometry and Optics will be launched in Lausanne in May next year with the aim of promoting education and research into the science and practice of optometry and optics.

'The development of the Academy is a very exciting move for optometry in Europe,' said Dr Wolfgang Cagnolati, president of the European Council of Optometry and Optics.

The College of Optometrists has been selected to provide the secretariat for the Academy after a competitive tender process. Dr Rob Hogan, president of the College, said: 'The award of this contract will lead to significant benefits for College members.'
