Eye for the perfect gift: Retired College of Optometrists fellow Harry Green has presented the College with a sculpture of an eye to mark his appreciation for its work on behalf of the profession he has served for nearly 60 years. The modern sculpture from the glass-blowing island of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon symbolises the birth of the spectacle lens-making industry in that area around the third quarter of the 13th century. Green commented: 'I love my profession and the College always supported me. While travelling in Venice I saw the sculpture and thought it would be the perfect gift.'
