Eyeplan steps up campaign

Eyeplan is to step up the number of seminars to explain its eye care payment scheme to practitioners.

The scheme, which is aimed at enabling practitioners to price professional services at their true value, received a good response at seminars in the south west this month, according to its managing director Simon Mills. Now the seminar series will continue on a weekly basis, with meetings further afield. Mr Mills said that Eyeplan initially assumed practitioners knew a great deal more about the present fees situation and the scheme's direct-debit programme, which is designed to allow professionals to receive a regular income from patients. 'Many have assumed there's a catch in it [Eyeplan],' he admitted, 'but when we explain it, the practitioners realise the economics of our scheme could make the difference.' He revealed that 15 practitioners joined Eyeplan in its first month last November.
