Rodenstock has announced that Boris Becker will no longer be used as brand ambassador for Wimbledon Eyewear.

The decision came after what the manufacturer described as a change of 'endorsement strategy at group level' and just weeks after Becker fronted a new line of products for 2013.

'Rodenstock's new strategy is to focus on our great products and no longer on a celebrity. As a result, this is affecting some local advertising campaigns and more particularly the Wimbledon Sunglasses campaign,' said Rodenstock UK business eyewear manager Damien Klevge.

Replacement point-of-sale kits have been issued to Wimbledon Eyewear stockists.
