Members of the public have been dining in the dark to raise money for UK eye research charity Fight for Sight this month.
Its Feast your Eyes fundraising event has called upon fundraisers to take part in blindfolded or lights out dinner parties, to help boost research into conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetics retinopathy and glaucoma.
Interim director of fundraising at Fight for Sight, Sharon Petrie, said: ‘Feast your Eyes is a fun activity that people can do with friends, family or work colleagues while raising awareness of the importance of eye research and the need for more funding so that Fight for Sight is able to continue to fund pioneering eye research.’
TV chef and food writer Anjum Anand has offered her support to the event by providing recipes for lamb do piazza and pistachio cakes with orange syrup.
She said: ‘I’m delighted to offer my support to Fight for Sight for the second year running. Please join the fight against sight loss - sign up to Feast your Eyes and tickle your taste buds by following my recipe.’
The event will run throughout October, those looking to sign-up should visit the Fight for Sight website to register and received a fundraising pack including free blindfolds.
