Fight for Sight to benefit from Lord Archer art sale

Former chairman of the Conservative party Jeffrey Archer is to lend his support - and his much-publicised collection of Andy Warhol artwork - to optical charity Fight for Sight.

Some of his collection, estimated to be worth &\#163;25m, is to be sold at the Peter Gwyther Gallery in London's Mayfair, and the Tory peer has promised to donate 10 per cent commission from any work sold at a private view to be held by the charity next week (Wednesday, December 2). With prices ranging from &\#163;5,000 for a silk-screen on paper to &\#163;1.2m for a set of nine 'Multicoloured Marilyns', the charity stands a chance of receiving a substantial windfall if one of its guests decides to buy.
