Fight for Sight is the designated charity for 22 people taking part in the Flora London Marathon including staff from Moorfields Eye Hospital, the Institute of Ophthalmology, several opticians and the charity's new chief executive Michele Acton.
Last year, 16 runners raised over £20,000 for the charity and this year's team aim to succeed this target.
Acton said: 'I thought this would be a really good way to show my commitment to the charity and hopefully rally more people into supporting us too. It will also be a great personal challenge for me which I hope will be reflected in the sponsorship. The more money that we raise the more that will be available to fund the many exciting research projects being supported by the charity.'
