Valli Opticians sponsors local football team in two-year deal

Referees officiating Honley FC league games that experience sight-related banter from spectators won’t have to look far for an opticians thanks to a two-year sponsorship deal with local optical group Valli Opticians.

The deal means the club, which fields three teams in the Huddersfield District League and one in the West Riding County Amateur League, will feature the group’s logo on their shirts.

The group’s CEO, Moin Valli, pictured centre with son Eissa, said that he was inspired to sponsor the club because of his own passion for football and his commitment to the local community. He saw the team, which plays at Neiley Pavilion, play in their new shirts for the first time ahead of a league fixture at Berry Brow recently.

Honley FC secretary Michael Sanderson welcomed the deal: ‘We have quite substantial overheads in addition to ground and changing room fees which have sent many clubs like ours out of existence in recent years. This ensures stability and continuity for the next two seasons.’
