Forum to advance Scottish eye health established

Spotlight on Scotland’s Eye Health at the University of Aberdeen

A workshop and round table event called Spotlight on Scotland’s Eye Health took place at the University of Aberdeen on September 25 to mark National Eye Health Week.

Organised by Optometry Scotland and head of economics at the university’s business school Dr Alexandros Zangelidis, the event featured discussions which led to the establishment pf Scottish Eyecare for Everyone (SEE), a nationwide network and forum that will focus on the advancement of eye health in Scotland.

Dr Zangelidis said: ‘Our research indicates that greater inclusivity and awareness is needed to reach the segments of society that are economically more vulnerable, with lower uptake of health care services. This will be just one of the key issues that SEE will seek to address… and we look forward to seeing these ideas come to life through the work of SEE.’
