Barnet College is offering employers in the optometry sector situated in Greater London free training to develop the skills of staff.
The training initiative is part of the LEAP project (Learners Engaged and Achieving Progression in the Health Sector) which offers a range of free training opportunities and advice funded by the European Social Fund.
The LEAP project aims to fill skills gaps in the workplace by offering free, accredited level 3 qualifications (equivalent to A-level standard) to staff in organisations such as opticians, dentists and pharmacists which employ fewer than 250 people.
Initially, a free Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is offered to identify skills gaps. The TNA is designed to help employers look at ways of managing and identifying training needs of staff and includes a free two-hour consultation by an experienced consultant. The consultant will also highlight funding opportunities for employers.
