From Bradford to Swaziland

Two students from Bradford will join eye care charity Vision Aid Overseas' project in Swaziland this summer after receiving a bursary from the Irvine Aitchison Memorial Fund.

Twenty-year-old Holly Price, a second-year optometry student at Bradford University, and Caroline Wilson, 25, who is studying ophthalmic dispensing at Bradford College, were selected from hundreds of applicants across the UK. The chairman of the fund's trustees, Nigel Wingate, commented: 'As in previous years, the trustees were most impressed with the standard of entries. 'Holly and Caroline were selected from a shortlist of six outstanding students. We are certain that they will seize this learning opportunity, and that they will carry this experience with them throughout their careers.' The Vision Aid Overseas group, which will travel to Swaziland in August, will carry out a teaching programme for local nurses as part of the continuing support the charity has provided for a number of years.
